Charles G. Buckingham collection [186-?]-1918.

This collection contains a photograph album and an envelope of 11 loose photos. The album, which is of brown leather with a brass clasp and the name "C. G. Buckingham" stamped on the front cover, contains 50 photos dating from about the 1860s-1910s. The photographs pertain to the Buckingham family of Van Wert, Ohio. The loose photos show Buckinghams in farming scenes and camping in the Rocky Mountain National Park, etc., ca. 1917-1918.

Charles G. Buckingham was born at Van Wert, Ohio, in 1846. He left Kenyon College, Ohio, in his sophomore year due to health problems and worked for 6 months at the First National Bank of Van Wert. He moved to Colorado in 1870 with Dr. Charles Emerson to join the Union Colony in Greeley. With H. T. West, the men established the banking firm of Emerson, West and Buckingham.
